Pop star Katy Perry has apologized for sneakers which resembled blackface, created and distributed by her label, Katy Perry Footwear.
Perry has issued an announcement to PEOPLE, addressing the controversial footwear,
Perry and World Manufacturers Group apologize for the model’s “Ora Face Block Heel Sandal” and the “Rue Face Slip-On Loafers.” Each sneakers featured gold eyes, nostril and crimson lips on the toe of the shoe which reminded lots of blackface.
“The Rue and The Ora had been a part of a group that was launched final summer season in 9 completely different colorways (black, blue, gold, graphite, lead, nude, pink, crimson, silver) and envisioned as a nod to trendy artwork and surrealism,” the assertion begins.
