Annaleigh Ashford to play Judy Holliday in Good Blonde biopic
Tony winner Annaleigh Ashford (You Can’t Take It With You) will star as Oscar-winning actress Judy Holliday within the upcoming biopic Good Blonde, Deadline has confirmed.
Ashford not too long ago appeared in American Crime Story: Versace and beforehand starred Showtime’s Masters of Intercourse. Her upcoming tasks embody Second Act, A Wet Day in New York, American Reject, and Dangerous Training starring alongside Hugh Jackman, Allison Janney, and Alex Wolff.
Good Blonde will deal with Holliday, a nightclub singer who in her early performing profession within the 1940s fought again towards the overt sexual advances of studio mogul Darryl F. Zanuck throughout her time as a day participant at Fox. She later went on to star on Broadway in Born Yesterday and later gained the Greatest Actress Oscar within the film adaptation from George Cukor. The actress/singer was finally blacklisted in Hollywood as a communist for being so outspoken and handed away from breast most cancers on the age of 43 in 1965.
Gene Kirkwood (Rocky, The Defiant Ones) is producing the mission. Kirkwood mentioned: “Judy Vacation’s story is one for the ages and but so relatable throughout the context of in the present day’s headlines.”
